———–

The NordicTrack Commercial 1500 has many common features with the NordicTrack Elite 9500 PRO. We had the chance to review this machine shortly after we did the one for the Elite version, so our memory was fresh and eager to see the differences.

The price of this treadmill is $1,300 and you can find it available on the manufacturer website. Is it really good? See in our conclusions.

Specifications

Specification Value
Speed 0-12 MPH 1-Touch This is a common feature on NordicTrack treadmills. You have 12 buttons on the console to change speed with just 1 button push. You also have 2 up/down arrows to change speed by 0.1 or 0.5 increments.
Inclination 0-15% 1-Touch This is controlled same as speed. You can also change the incline with the up/down arrows located on the console by 0.5 increments.
Motor 3.0 HP DurX Commercial Pro Motor
Belt 20" x 60" (50.8 cm x 152.4 cm) The belt is backed by an Adjustable cushion system which allows you to control the firmness of the running surface. You have 2 cushion handles by each side of the belt. You must push them in the same direction, same intensity before you start using the treadmill. To increase firmness, move them toward the front of the treadmill. To decrease firmness, move them to the back of the treadmill. We recommend you choose a firmer surface if you use the machine for intensive run. You also must keep count of your weigh; if it’s large you need a firmer surface.
Frame metal
Supported user weight 350 lbs
Warranty You receive a lifetime warranty for frame and motor, 2 years for parts and 1year for labor.

NordicTrack Commercial 1500 Treadmill Review console

Sound System:

You can insert any audio jack: MP3, iPod or CD player and control the volume from the console.

Folding treadmill:

This treadmill can be folded and moved around with the aid of its wheels. But it’s not easy! This is a very heavy machine.

Conclusions

This is a good treadmill which we recommend to anyone interested in having a home training machine. There are several details we consider worth looking into: good motor, adjustable cushion system, various workouts, and large belt. Plus, a good web price when in sale.

There are still some small details that we noticed. They aren’t a deal breaker, but if you’re aware of them before you buy it, you’ll not be in for an unpleasant surprise after you bring it home.

This is a very heavy machine. You think the folding system will help you store it and move it, but it won’t unless you have someone strong at your side to help you every time.

NordicTrack Commercial 1500 Treadmill Review Console 2

You can’t have an accurate calories burned reading because you can’t actually insert your own weight and age in the workout description. Only with this info a machine can calculate the most accurate calories you burn during an exercise.

On the other hand with the iFIT LIVE module you enter this info right into your subscription profile, therefor all your iFIT Workouts will be created especially for your constitution.

The motor is also a little noisy. Not that much that you find it annoying but until you’ll get used to it, you may find it a little too loud.

For its basic features that really count, this is a good machine. The warranty if not very good, especially for the parts, but if you pay attention to how it must be preserved we don’t see any big issues you may encounter with it on the long term.

Still, if you had a bad experience you want others to know about before making their decision to buy it, please share it with us and leave a comment.

I bought this treadmill a few days ago. It’s very heavy, so make sure you have 2 good sized guys to unload (especially going up and down stairs) and set up. It seems to be nice so far, but I do have a clunking sound each time my foot hits the platform when running (I’m 170 lbs). Almost like something is loose and bottoming out when my full weight impacts.

I’m sure it’s just me but I cant seem to find where it lists my pace (minutes/mile), any tips on finding this?

@David – If you just bought this treadmill, it means you purchased the 2011 model. We reviewed also the new model. The pace info is listed only in the old model’s console (which is this detailed in this review). The 2011 model returns details only about the number of feet climbed. About the noise you described, it appears the belt needs to be centered or tightened. I recommend the manual to see how to do this. Happy running and keep us posted!

I bought my NordicTrack Commercial 1500 thinking I was getting a professional grade treadmill only to have nothing but trouble with it since I got it. It’s like having a British sports car, you’re fixing it more than you’re using it! The first month I had it the control console started acting up with first the elevation buttons going out and then the speed buttons failing one by one over the next few weeks. Finally, nothing was working. ICON owns several fitness brands including NordicTrack and after fighting with them for months, they finally sent me a new console which I had to install myself. Next the belt started slipping .. and then badly to where it could not be adjusted so the entire machine became unusable. Despite numerous attempts to contact ICON, I couldn’t even get a response from them. In exasperation, I have begun a campaign to publically expose this poor product in hopes that other consumers will be spared the aggravation I have had with both the substandard NordicTrack product and trying to deal with ICON, Inc.

My advice: Don’t go near the NordicTrack Commercial 1500 Treadmill and probably none of the ICON product line which in addition to NordicTrack also includes FreeMotion Fitness, ProForm, Weider, HealthRider, EPIC, Image, iFit, and Weslo. You’re Welcome!

@ A. – Thank you for your comment. We had good experiences with some models from Icon Fitness and when needed, the Custom Support team was very helpful. You definitely had bad luck and we understand your point of view completely. Hopefully, Icon will take action fast. Let us know if you can use the warranty to have a replacement or a refund. This should be the professional way to handle these types of unpleasant situations, after a technical team comes to your home to make the expertise and clear what is wrong with the treadmill. Keep us posted.

I have this treadmill…love it, except a few weeks ago the belt started slipping, we tightened the belt and it worked for a day or so…now with the correct tension the belt does not move, motor runs and everything on the display works as if I’m actually walking or running on it, but absolutely no belt movement. I’ve only had the machine for 7 mths…any suggestions?

    1. admin in reply to Amanda

@Amanda – Unfortunately, we haven’t met with this situation before. You should contact the Icon Fitness technical department for assistance. And please let us know what they tell you. We are curious to know why the console would behave so strange.
