NordicTrack Apex 4500 – 2008

Overview

UPDATE: The Apex 4500 is a 2008 treadmill that is no longer being sold. Browse through our latest NordicTrack treadmill reviews to find the new treadmills that might appeal to you.

Apex 4500 comes with a new cushioning system which makes this machine one of the most attractive options on the market in 2008. Most treadmills in its class offer advanced shock abortion systems, but the Apex 4500 takes this feature to the next level.

This treadmill comes also with a good motor and attractive built in workouts. The console has a nice design and we simply love the blue ClearView Backlit Display. The successful iFIT workout card system is also a hit.

Heart Rate Monitor

Club-Design Cardio Grip Heart Rate Monitor on the handlebars.

The following features and functions are also included

12 Workout Programs, iFIT Workout Card Technology, Training Zone Indicator, Odometer with My Miles, Carb Counter, Auto Breeze Fans and a Space Saver Design.

Conclusions

Apex 4500 is one of the top budget treadmills produced by NordicTrack. It’s equipped with a good 2.25 CHP motor and a roomy treadbelt.

What makes this model stand out is the Reflex Deck Cushioning. This system absorbs the energy and propels the user into the next stride. It also ensures a better joint protection.

This is a $1,100 model, so don’t expect it to act as a $3,000 one.

I have this treadmill. I have had it for almost 3 years, and have 811 miles on it (it has an odometer). I love this machine and I disagree with the comment in the review about it being inadequate if you want to run. About 75% of my miles have been running at paces between 6 and 8 miles/hr. I trained for a 1/2 marathon on the machine and also for faster 5 k races. I have done interval training, and also walking with steep inclines. I have not had a single problem with it. I love the reflex deck–without that system, I don’t think I could run all because of plantar fasciitis and joint problems I have had. Don’t hesitate to buy this machine for fear it can’t handle running.
