Best Features
TRUE's Soft System
One of the hallmarks of the TRUE Fitness brand is their cushioning, which is one of the most advanced systems in the industry.
The Performance 100 features the Soft System, which significantly reduces the amount of impact on your joints. This is ideal for those who usually experience pain when running on a treadmill or elsewhere.
Workout Tracking
One of the newest technologies introduced to the TRUE lineup is workout tracking, also found on the up-level PS300 model.
The TRUE Performance 100 features Wahoo’s runfit app, which automatically collects your workout data from your treadmill and syncs it with your smart phone.
That way you can monitor your results and set goals for yourself, as well as share your information via your favorite fitness apps such as MyFitness Pal.
Heart Rate Programming
The PS100 comes with contact heart rate monitoring, wireless heart rate monitoring, target HRC workouts and HRC Cruise Control.
As with many of the TRUE treadmills it is ideal for those looking to keep close tabs on their heart rate throughout their workouts to remain in the ideal zone.
Built in Workouts
These are a number of built in programs on the Performance 100, including the aforementioned heart rate control programs, weight loss, performance, speed, hills and distance.
Recent upgrades allow for 4 different user profiles (up from 2 on the previous model) with the ability to save up to 5 workouts each.
Other Great Features
The Performance 100 also comes with a new 8.5″ LCD display, up to 15% incline, quick speed/incline keys, extended handrails, tablet holder, water bottle holder and accessory tray.
Conclusion
Pros
Starting with the motor, the PS100 was designed to keep you plugged in. It’s sturdy and powerful, just what you need for a consistent running routine, even if more than one person uses the machine daily.
You’ll be happy to hear that PS100 uses commercial grade materials, which is added value. But the commercial performance is moderate, appropriate for home use only.
When you’re scrolling up and down through the list of programs, the console shows speed and incline as they adjust to your program. We find it convenient and efficient.
You also have the quick speed keys at hand, so you won’t have to make any effort to alter speed values. It’s the entire console really that keeps us running, without interfering with our workout, but allowing us to make adjustments and check workout stats easily and fast.
Some small thrills, such as the water bottle holders, help you get through the whole workout. It’s always hot when running on the treadmill, so this feature always comes in handy.
The warranty is also a plus in our book, as it is on all TRUE treadmills.
Main attraction
The HRC Cruise Control expands cardio workouts by adjusting automatically your speed and incline to maintain the target heart rate throughout the entire workout. It is as great as it sounds, because the workout intensity is controlled based on your personal details.
Drawbacks
The TRUE Fitness PS100 model could have been the perfect machine, but it’s not without its drawbacks. It doesn’t come with their patented orthopedic belt, which it should for that money. The M50 model does have it, and the PS300 and higher models do as well. There’s no web browser or fan as you find on other treadmills.
But all in all, you’re getting a great gym quality machine with a space-friendly design, although this one’s a bit longer than the M30 and M50.
What's the bottom line?
For serious runners as well as those who are a bit taller than the rest of us, the TRUE PS100 treadmill is the ideal machine as it has one of the most generously-sized running surfaces available and a high weight capacity, among other great features.
For those less serious and of average height, the M30 or M50 should serve you just fine. TRUE treadmills are incredible machines that are built to last.
