How Much to Spend On a Treadmill

We realize that, for some of you, this chapter’s title is the most important question. You may have a very limited budget so you need to be sure that you buy the right machine that has everything you need.

Sometimes, it’s recommended you go over the initial set budget if you find a good deal. Many dealers or manufacturers offer financing solutions. In the end, paying an additional $15 per month for the right treadmill is worth it in the long run.

From a cost point of view, treadmills are basically split into 3 main categories: Budget Treadmills, Mid-Range Treadmills and High-End Treadmills.

Budget Treadmills: Priced Under $1000

Typically in this price range you are getting an entry-level treadmill, which means that the machine typically comes with basic features. If you choose a good brand and a good model, you should be satisfied with what you get. But don’t expect all of the bells and whistles. The machine will do the job it’s designed to and that’s it.

These budget treadmills are recommended for those who plan to do only walking or light jogging sessions. The treadmills in this category are not really suited for running or heavy usage.

In this price range you will typically not have real entertainment or advanced fitness tools. (Although more sub $1000 machines these days, such as those from NordicTrack, Horizon and ProForm, are equipped with features typically found on pricier models)

And don’t forget to consider the extended warranty, no matter what brand or model you choose for less than $1000. Horizon T101 Entry Level Treadmill

Mid-Range Treadmills: Priced Between $1000 And $2000

In this range you’ll get good, solid training machines. Treadmills in this category are good for walking or jogging and can keep up with casual runners. Most machines have good motors and roomy belts. Some of the top models in this category are extremely good deals.

You can expect to get a variety of fitness tools like touch screens, workout tracking, Bluetooth internet and more on some of the better models. Expect also to receive advanced cushioning systems and better warranties.

High-End Treadmills: Priced Over $2000

Once you reach the $2000 threshold you get more versatile and powerful training machines. These treadmills are built to last for years to come and have very powerful motors.

With these kinds of treadmills you don’t have to worry about how the machine acts if you train for long hours and it doesn’t matter if you are tall or heavy since their belts will accommodate all shapes and sizes.

They will also come with a lot of built in workouts, web connectivity, incline/decline, fitness app syncing and much more.

You can also expect the best entertainment systems and the most advanced cushioning systems. If you have more than $2000 to spend on a treadmill, you can be sure that you will receive a very good training companion.

There are also the super treadmills that cost 6k or more. These treadmills can be compared to supercars. If you can afford one you don’t have to worry about anything. As a matter of fact you can close this guide because you don’t need to read it anymore 🙂
