Schwinn 870

The Schwinn 870 treadmill comes with one of the largest selections of workouts you will find.

You’ll find 26 workouts in all, 4 more than on the base Schwinn 830 model, including manual, quick goal, training, weight control, heart health, interval and custom.

This gives you plenty of options and keeps your workouts interesting, as opposed to other treadmills that offer only a handful of choices for you.

A nice touch on the Schwinn 870 is Bluetooth capability, which allows you to track all of your workout stats via the Schwinn Trainer 2 and RunSocial Apps, so you can be on top of your progress.

This capability is becoming more and more popular these days, as there are so many fitness apps you can sync the information to that offer a ton of ways to analyze and set goals for yourself.

Note that as of this writing, the base 830 model did not have Bluetooth capability.

The 870 has a larger deck than the 830, 20″ wide x 60″ long, giving you plenty of room to stretch out during your runs.

It also features the patented SoftTrak cushioning system with 6 cells, reducing impact on your knees and joints.

The belt is 2 ply with a 2 mm thickness, a step up from the 1 ply 1.5 mm thickness on the base model.

The Schwinn 870 features the SoftDrop folding system, which allows you to quickly and easily fold up the treadmill after use.

Both treadmills feature transport wheels as well for easy portability.

In addition to everything above, you can run up to 12 mph and incline up to 15% (12% on the 830).

You also get a 3.0 CHP motor, an advanced DualTrack display console, Schwinn Fitness Score, 3 speed fan, mp3 inout and sound system and a tablet holder.

There is certainly a lot to like about the new Schwinn 870 treadmill.

You get a large assortment of workouts, wireless and contact heart rate monitoring, incline capability, workout tracking, large cushioned deck and easy folding.

At around $1000+ on sale, that’s a lot of features. You typically find that on treadmills over $1500, so we applaud Schwinn for that.

The only negative is the same one we’ve encountered during all of our Schwinn treadmill reviews…the warranty.

You only get a 10 year frame warranty, which we really don’t understand. You’ll be hard pressed to find a $1000 treadmill these days that does not have a lifetime frame and motor warranty.

NordicTrack, Horizon, Sole, ProForm…they all offer that…we’re not sure why Schwinn is unable to do so.

That’s why in spite of all of the fantastic features, it’s tough to recommend the Schwinn 870.

Of the two new Schwinn treadmills, the 870 is definitely the way to go. It offers a lot more of everything than the 830 model does, and last we checked it was only an additional $150.

Still, both share that same paltry frame and motor warranty, so it’s hard to jump in with both feet.

If you do decide that you like the Schwinn 870, definitely opt for an extended warranty if it’s available.
