Many of you wonder which is the perfect way to start your own treadmill training routine. Everyone is a beginner at one point and we know how it is to feel a little confused and not know where to start.
The treadmill workouts for beginners should focus on making the walking/running a pleasant experience. These first exercises must convince you that the treadmill is not a boring machine and that the time spent on it will be enjoyable.
Secondly, the workouts must help you develop a correct posture and moves. This is a very important aspect and if you don’t learn how to move correctly you could have serious health problems.
At this stage a solution can be video workouts. You may consider buying a DVD and follow a professional trainer’s advice. These DVDs allow you to get the same benefit as you would from an instructor so if you’re new at this we strongly recommend them.
- Start with a warm up session. It should take 10 minutes and during this time you do stretching moves, light jog or walking.
- Start the workout. This period should take from 20 to 45 minutes (depending on your strength). Make sure you measure your heart rate and you keep it somewhere around 65-85% of your maximum heart rate. What it’s under 65 is too slow, what it’s over 85 % is too hard.
- In the end, a 10 minutes cool down session is necessary to be done if you want to avoid injuries. Do a slow walk and finish with some stretching moves.
You can do this workout during your first 2 weeks, until you get used with the treadmill and prepare your body for serious training sessions.
