The Perfect Playlist For Treadmill Workouts

As you can easily imagine there are 2 main types of runners when dividing them by the music they listen to. There are those who listen to music while they workout and those who don’t.

Each group has it pros and cons but we will not enter into a discussion about this aspect in this article. This post is for those who like listening to music while they train and we talk about how they can create the perfect motivational playlist.

First advice is to play only the music you like. It doesn’t matter if it’s hip hop, rock or pop. It has to be your type of music.

So which are the right songs to play?

A study made by Dr. Costas Karageorghis, professor of psychology at Brunel University shows that the effective workout songs have the following characteristics: simple beats, simple chords, and simple messages.

Along with simplicity these songs include also the following:

1. A relentless rhythm
2. Powerful themes
3. A trancelike quality
4. An aggressive pace
5. Uplifting arrangements

Songs like AC/DC’s Back in Black or The Chemical Brothers’ Out of Control can push a runner and increase his performance so choose the pieces that motivate you and create your own power playlist.
