Question

What is the difference between a manual and an electric treadmill?

Answer:

The manual treadmills are powered by your own feet. When you are on a manual treadmill you make the belt moving by pushing it with you own feet. These treadmills are cheaper and are good only for walks. Also the incline system is a manual one (that is if the incline option exists). It means you have to stop the workout, set the new incline and resume training. It’s not very pleasant.

The electric ones are more expensive but you can use them in many ways. You usually have predefined workouts and some “fun” features like audio or TV systems. The belt is moved by an electric motor and the speed and incline are controlled via a center console. You can walk, run, do intervals and even walk in reverse (only on some advanced machines). The options are endless and all depends on your budget.
