iFit Compatibility- included, but the module must be purchased separately

24 ProShox Intensity Levels

You can customize your workouts and cushioning level. You can opt for a firmer or a lighter cushion.

Conclusions

The XT 70 incline trainer has its good sides, but also several bad sides. There are other incline trainers with more features, more diversity, more user-friendly design that come for the same price. So no, we don’t really recommend the XT 70 and here is why.

Pros
Let’s get this clear: you will never run on the XT 70. Not because we just say so, but because you will not be able to. The motor is powerful enough for walkers and joggers and those who are into high intensity workouts, but for runners not so much.

The cushioning technology is something we are quite fond of. It’s adjustable and adjusting the cushion is easy. It’s nice to be able to set the cushion as light and as firm as you want, according to the workout that you want. So yes, big ups for ProShox, if you do not weigh over 140-150 lbs.

If you are determined to shed those extra pounds you’ve been complaining about lately, you can do it on the XT 70, successfully that is. Compared to a typical treadmill, this incline trainer (and incline trainers in general) helps you burn 4 times the no of calories burned on a treadmill. Incline trainer fans know that walking at an incline is a highly effective way of losing weight. Here you have 20% incline to use and abuse.

Also, you get the advanced iFit technology (but for additional costs), the iPod compatibility, a convincing warranty package and a nice advanced display.

Main Attraction
I must say the buzz revolves around the cushion system. It’s really this good. Then, the iFit feature is a nice kicker and in addition, a nice pair of speakers give you the entertainment.

Drawbacks
Even so, the belt is narrow. Who wants a narrow belt? This is a problem itself, but even more since the competition offers much larger space for the same money.

The incline is almost awful. You have no chance of using this incline trainer as treadmill, because you have no 0%. The incline jumps from 10 to 20%, just like that, so you’ll have no 12% or 15% or anything in between 10 and 20. Plus, you will have to dismount the machine to go to 20% incline.

The motor is too small and one other thing that surprised us totally unpleasantly was some iFit issues. It doesn’t run smoothly.

If you have $1,500 in your hand and don’t know what to do with it, either go for other ProForm incline trainers or put your money in the bank. Whatever you do, don’t buy the ProForm XT 70. Quality, functionality and overall performance are not user friendly. At all.

PS: at the end of 2011 the price of this treadmill decreased to $700. This is a fair cost for the value received. More details can be found on product page on Proform website

Conclusions

The Proform Pro 2500 Treadmill is a good buy, especially now that it’s gotten up to $1,300. It has higher-end components and attractive features that all together make this treadmill one of the best units in its price range. Still, it has some drawbacks that may determine you to check other similar models for the same, if not lower, price.

Pros

The motor uses high-end components and commercial parts. It remains quiet and smooth, although it is powerful enough to back up 375 lbs. It’s supported by lifetime guarantee, so we don’t doubt its resistance.

Then, there is the console that has really convenient features, such as 1-touch buttons. We don’t have to go through that entire bothersome button pressing, we can just swipe our finger and set speed and incline or anything else immediately. It’s just as easy to check workout feedback.

This treadmill can be used by taller users without the fear of falling off. The belt is spacious and extended. It’s designed to perform more quietly than average belts, and it succeeds in doing it.

We were happy to see that we don’t have to worry about joint and knees protection. The suspension cushioning system works amazingly and protects your body from any stress and injury. We feel comfortable enough to prolong our workouts as much as we want.

Folding is easy, you just have to push the deck.

Workouts are really challenging. Those interested in fat burn and all-terrain trails workouts will get some serious satisfaction. Additionally, iFit Live Mode will bring extra challenge. It’s like having a personal trainer providing customized and specialized workouts while leading you throughout the workout. We are really keen on all-terrain trails because we get to connect with trails from all over the world, which is a great plus for a treadmill.

Main attraction

One of the main attractions of this treadmill is that it offers decline options. Having decline means you can run whether uphill or downhill, which is a major plus for runners who like to run on different trails around the world, such as we do.

Also, this is one of the most featured treadmills on the market for this price, which is a major plus.
The warranty is quite strong and insures users they’ve made a good purchase. One other thing that we enjoy is the improved sound system. It works much better than on other similar treadmills.

Drawbacks

The belt may not be as commercial grade as Proform says. We checked out its construction and we can’t say we are 100% sure of its long-term usage. This leads to some issues with the decline. Since the construction of the belt is precarious, when you activate decline it becomes a bit unstable and you can’t see the console properly.

All in all, the Proform 2500 is backed up with a serious range of features that make this treadmill a good deal: the motor, the cushioning, the workouts, iFit Live Mode and easy usage of the console. But then again, you may want to check out other brands such as Life Fitness and Smooth that could offer better quality for the same price.

Conclusions

The Performance 1450 is a good machine with eye-catching innovative technology. It performs well in all departments: functionality, programming, diversity, challenge and quality. It’s a powerful machine that stands out from other machines in its category.

Pros

The 1450 is sturdy and yet smooth. It has powerful motor and proper features to pass the test of high performance in vibration and noise. Those who like quiet workouts, that is all of us, can rely on Performance 1450.

Then, there is the large running surface. A large running surface is always a good thing. Taller, heavier, amateur or professional can all benefit from a surface this generous.

By now, we’ve seen why this is a nice machine. But it’s also heavily varied, as far as programs go.
26 workouts offer a wide variety of training. Whether you want to run faster, lose the extra weight, tone your muscles or simply stay in shape, this machine offers you diversity so large that you can’t get bored. And when you’re done with the onboard workouts, just use iFit Live.

1 touch speed and incline makes it easy for you to perform speed and incline changes. I’ve always found buttons so bothersome. It’s not the first treadmill to replace classic buttons with 1-touch, but it’s one of the few and this is a feature we like terribly.

The cushioning is just great. It keeps your body stress-free all the way and makes you feel brand new when you’re done. When workout is over, just fold the machine and place it somewhere where it won’t bother you until next use.

Highlights

The color display with Android Browser makes this machine quite unique. For the moment. Sure, technology will evolve and soon, all treadmills will have browsers and touch screens. But for now, only few incorporate these features. If you’re the kind that likes or needs to surf the internet to stay motivated and entertained, you’ll most benefit from this feature.

The 10″ display is user-friendly. It’s large enough to help you check out feedback and program info in no time.
This unit has iFit compatibility, which diversifies even more the whole workout range.

A machine this challenging couldn’t have missed a workout fan. It works great and keeps us cool until our longest workout is completed.

Drawbacks

But, nothing is perfect. Especially when it comes to technology. The truth is the touch screens don’t work excellently. They’ve failed many times. But then they recovered. It still happens, from time to time. Logically speaking, it’s normal for a technology this new to have certain design problems.

For $1,500, the 1450 is a machine that we recommend. It is powerful yet quiet, it is easy to use, it has a large touch screen display, you can surf the internet, it sustains high quality cushioning, you get to fold it and it offers a great amount of workouts plus iFit Live. And all, backed up by a satisfying warranty.

The Proform Trailrunner 4.0 is a machine of Proform’s Trailrunner 2011 range, an improved version of Trailrunner 2.0.

It is sturdy, powerful and also satisfyingly quiet. The cushion works perfectly and the 10 inch display is big enough to make feedback and all other operations easy to read and perform. On the other hand, the touchscreen has serious issues and the manual is way too difficult to understand, especially if you’re a treadmill newbie.

Conclusions

The Trailrunner 4.0 features an impressive cardio technology and provides a powerful and almost quiet motor. But given the hype Proform has created when launching this product, the Trailrunner 4.0 has serious issues. Contrary to what Proform says about this product, it is by far imperfect.

Pros

The Trailrunner does well in the power department. The motor is close to quiet and the 3.8 HP capacity is above other treadmills in the same price range. The belt has satisfying traction and is generous enough to support heavier and taller users.

The 1 touch speed and incline buttons made our workouts so much easier, but the tricky part is that they only work when you’re running. And talking about easy-to-use, the 10 inch display is of great help. It goes smoothly, feedback is easy to read and so are the buttons.

We are satisfied by the quality of this machine, which is surprising for a unit of this price. It’s a solid machine with quality rollers that insure long-term usage. The speakers provide a nice sound, but not the best. It’s somewhere between medium and high.

Main Attraction

The first thing that got our attention was the Android browser. We’re not fanatics, let’s say passionate. This is an innovative feature that many users find helpful. We also, mostly when the weather is bad and you don’t feel that motivated, but you know you have to run.

There’s iFit compatibility that is always a satisfying aspect, if you’re the type that seeks for the latest workouts, and wants to get full reports on his or her performance.

Cushioning is adjustable, which makes our workouts so darn comfortable! This is a key feature of the new generation of treadmills. And on Trailrunner 4.0, it works flawlessly.

Drawbacks

Although it may all look nice and shiny, it’s not. For starters, the touchscreen isn’t that satisfying. Typing and scrolling are a real burden. Letters are way too big, and imprecise. And scrolling made us crazy. Sure, you have to calibrate the touchscreen. Which leads us to our second dislike. For us, it wasn’t too hard understanding all the details and prospects, but only because we deal with treadmills every day. A new user would have a very hard time trying to figure that instructions manual out.

The Android is great, the touchscreen is the one that doesn’t fit the Proform recognition.

And our third issue appeared one day when we tried to turn on the treadmill, but it took 20 minutes for the machine to power up, which is not only unusual, but also unpleasant.

Despite its flaws, we like our experience with the Trailrunner 4.0, because as far as functionality goes, it’s top notch. Workouts are intense, cushioning is good quality, the display works great, but the faulty touchscreen troubles the whole Android feature, which will be difficult to calibrate, given the bothersome manual.

We recommend it for its great qualities, and for the fair price of $ 1700. All issues aside, you’ll get high functionality for this price.

The 2011 Trailrunner 2.0 signed by Proform is part of the Trailrunner series that was has received positive reviews from its first appearance on the market. It’s definitely one of the best Proform treadmills. The big motor, all-terrain workouts and large running area, alongside the trustful cushioning make this unit rate well in all departments.

But there are also some issues we’ve encountered so we recommend you to check out our review and go to Conclusions for a complete view on this machine.

Conclusions

Despite the last few years when Proform wasn’t perceived that well, the new Trailrunner series is quite a catch. We didn’t expect Proform to check quality, warranty, power, noise, reliability, cushioning this well. We highly recommend this treadmill to all avid runners looking to outrun themselves.

Pros

Taller and heavier users can benefit from this machine that has an extra long belt. Passionate runners and daily joggers can totally push their limits on this machine. The motor is powerful enough to back up prolonged and intense workouts, so no worries on this part. And as a major plus, it’s not as noisy as we would have expected, on the contrary, it’s quite silent.

Avid runners will find the large display extremely useful. The display makes it easy for users to follow their progress, and also speed and incline are easy to alter, you just have to touch one button.

There’s a whole bunch of workouts you can choose from, it’s only up to your current fitness level and your future goals. Talking of goals, the great thing about this unit is that it features a Set-a-Goal workout center that basically tailors the workout to your current needs.

Otherwise, there are 30 preset workouts that offer just the intensity you want. We think this is the most precious asset of this machine: basically, it allows you to create your workouts.

It’s true we’ve experienced some difficulties when moving it from one spot to another after assembling, but other than that all went smoothly.

Main Attraction
By now, all good. But when you add the adjustable cushioning system, it all gets great! Yeap, this is a major perk of this unit. You can change cushioning platform according to your workout. We are amazed at how great our bodies feel, even after pushing our limits like crazy.

Those who want to experience even more personalized workouts, can purchase the iFit Live Module and enjoy audio coaching and customized training.

Of course, you get to fold the treadmill when you’re done for the day. And as a plus, the warranty is more than generous, for a $1,500 treadmill. Although I truly believe there will be no need to use it. This machine has 5 stars in all departments.

Drawbacks
It came as quite a surprise to see that some of the pars were positioned the wrong way, which caused some problems. The repairing team had to come and take care of things, which they did and quite quickly. But we admit we’ve been a bit suspicious from that day forward.

Another issue is the pulse monitors. We’re cardio addicts, so pulse monitors are crucial. But it seems they aren’t as accurately as they should.

Overall conclusion: the powerful motor, large running surface, terrain workouts, easy to read display and great cushioning are worth the money, but there are also pulse monitor issues and some models also have some problems with internal parts. We recommend this machine, but it wouldn’t hurt to check other similar models also.

Conclusions

ProForm has done a fine job once again with the Performance 600. This is a sturdy, quality treadmill that we recommend to medium height walkers and light joggers, less to taller users and avid runners.

There is a great deal of advantages that convinced us of the functionality of this treadmill.

Pros

Starting with the motor, you’ll be getting just what you need to back up intensity and high inclines. It is powerful enough to sustain tough workouts.

Then there is the belt that is above average, but still too short for tall users. Those with medium heights will benefit more from this unit.

Workouts are diverse enough to make your money worth it. Depending on your needs, you can choose between calorie, interval, speed and endurance workouts. The available incline and speed levels are more than enough for what you’ll need. We’re quite satisfied with the available calorie workouts. We lost the extra pounds efficiently, injury free and with some extra luxuries such as the cooling fan.

Talking of injuries, the cushion system is incredibly efficient. After maximum intensity workouts, our bodies feel as good as new. And the Intensity Control feature comes in handy when you want to make intensity changes during the program. Also, speed and incline adjustments are as easy as pressing a button.

Warranty adds up to what this treadmill can offer. 2 years for parts may not seem much, but for the price you’ll pay, it’s satisfactory.

Main Attraction

This treadmill enables iFit Live module and Nike+ module. This is a great plus. Not only you get workout diversity, but also it lowers the potential boredom. Although treadmills are good workout machines, they may get boring from time to time. With Google Maps, you’ll be free to work out wherever you want. Just pick your track and get started. During the program, you’ll be shown pictures of the chosen landscape.

The cushioning is qualitative, the folding is easy to perform and you won’t have to break the bank to get this valuable machine.

Drawbacks

You need a computer for the Nike+ module. You need to purchase separately the Nike+ and iFit Live modules. Also, the speed starts at 1 mph, which is something not all users approve of.

All in all, for the quality, programmable features and functionality it brings, the $800 price sounds like a good bargain.

Conclusions

Performance 400 is a good treadmill, given the $600 price. We recommend this machine to walkers and light joggers, since this machine was built for low impact. Runners should check out other models, such as NordicTrack or Livestrong. Also, taller users may have issues with the 50 x 55 inches belt. If it really is a drawback, they should go for other models.

Pros

The motor is not the most powerful there is, but it is more than enough for walking and light jogging. As far as these two go, we’re encountered no issues whatsoever. The belt is tricky though. We feel comfortable and our workouts go smoothly, but it may not be the same for taller users. They should check out a 60 inch belt. The cushioning system offers more comfort and security than concrete, but it isn’t as effective as more expensive models. And it can’t be, not for this price. Still, we’re quite satisfied with it and we feel no impact or injury after working out.

The display is divided into several smaller ones which is quite helpful when the going gets tough. Workouts will satisfy those who look for heart rate training, low impact workouts, performance training and losing weight.

Moreover, you get intensity control. It’s not a common feature and it’s really cool to have it because it allows users to alter intensity as they want. If you feel you can go harder, just push the button and increase intensity.

There’s a quality sound system for users who need a plus of motivation. It works well and provides a clear sound. And the warranty is satisfactory, given the price.

Main Attraction

Being compatible with the iFit Live Module and ProForm Sync feature is a very useful thing. iFit comes with a whole new package of personalized workouts and ProForm Sync is right there to help you analyze all the hard workouts you’ve been performing. It definitely pumps up some extra diversity which you need when training on treadmills. At least, it does for us.

Drawbacks

But then again, not all treadmills have everything, especially for $600.

First off, the belt won’t back up taller users. Then, this isn’t a machine for running, so runners should do a serious survey prior to purchasing.

The console is well structured, but doesn’t enable all workout info at once. It goes back and forth between the 3 displays.

There’s no cooling fan, which we believe is a problem. Not always, but during high intensity workouts. It’s such a relief to cool off after going like crazy on the deck.

We can conclude this is a good treadmill, for what it was build to do and for the price it comes with. For additional details visit the Proform website.

Conclusions

The thing about the ProForm Power series is that it represents an upgraded version of starter models. The 1080 is the improved version of 995, bringing forward more stability and a more solid construction. We recommend this good value treadmill when it doesn’t exceed $1,500. Luckily, it presently sells for $ 1,300, so you may have a chance to buy it at a good price.

Pros

This treadmill best suits runners and heavier users. The motor is strong and well-built, it’s decently priced for a continuous duty motor and may we add, it definitely powers the belt that is above average.

You don’t have to worry about the cash you’ll be taking out of your pocket for maintenance. The warranty is good.

The touch screen display is large enough to make feedback reading comfortable. The display is divided into several displays and you can change settings by swiping your finger and nothing more. This is the kind of display that makes our workouts easier and stress-free.

The cushioning system provides comfort and keeps us away from any injury. It’s amazing how this treadmill keeps our bodies brand new even after exhausting programs.

Workouts are customizable and can really enhance your training. Set-a-Goal workouts allow you to customize the program so that it meets your fitness goals. You can listen to music with the quality speakers which include iPod compatibility.

It’s extremely easy to fold the treadmill and to back this all up, the warranty is quite satisfactory, given this machine that basically can do everything.

Main Perks

Having iFit Live with Google Maps included is a straight way to intense, customized, audio coached workouts. We can run wherever we choose to run and secondly, we have the option to begin workouts tailored to our fitness goals. If you’re the race kind of runner, this treadmill will provide you with races through built-in routes.

And while you’re running, you get to see how your competitors are doing and what their strategies are. But you need a laptop for that, and it doesn’t come with the treadmill. Which leads us to Disadvantages section.

Disadvantages

You need a wireless connection for iFit Live and you need a laptop if you want to see how your competitors are doing during races.

Overall, we highly recommend this quality treadmill that combines functionality with an affordable price. Additional details can be found here.

Conclusions

The Power 995 stands out among some of the best budget treadmills at the moment. The 2011 model replaces successfully the one from 2010. The former version was highly ranked, but the truth is it wasn’t worth the $2,000. We recommend this new model that features some new twists and sells for $1,000.

Strong Points

Let’s start with those who can benefit from this machine. The spacious deck and the high lbs limit allow a wide range of users to work out on this model. It’s one major advantage this one right here.

The motor size is decent and powerful enough to sustain walkers and joggers, regardless of the intensity or incline. As a plus, it’s backed up by a lifetime warranty.

When we’re on this treadmill, we think “God, this is a comfortable deck!”. It’s amazing how the cushioning absorbs impact on knees, thighs and ankles. The perk is that you get to adjust the cushioning to match your body and your current exercise. Either firmer or less firm, this cushioning system keeps us away from injury even after draconic workouts.

It offers a serious deal of workouts. iFit compatibility adds up to this workout collection. You have to purchase it separately, but it’s worth the personalized workouts variety it brings. We are interested in iFit workouts and the affiliated features, which is one of the reasons for our purchase.

It provides a bigger challenge and accurate tracking. Additionally, the 2011 model enables the ProForm Sync feature that is highly helpful when it comes to monitoring performance. Your iPod stocks the info and you download it on Nikeplus.com. They offer a lot tools that come in handy when you want to analyze your performance.

There is a fan to keep you cool, a patented system to help you fold the treadmill and store it where it won’t bother when not in used and you can plug in your player, even iPod and enjoy your all time tunes. And the warranty is generous, given the price.

Main attraction

The ability to track, analyze and monitor workout info is an indispensible tool for improving performance. It’s great to have the Nike+ feature. Your iPod stocks workout info, you download it to Nikeplus.com and the site takes care of the rest.

iFit Live compatibility is always an advantage. And in addition, you get adjustable cushioning and easy folding. And all for $ 1000 which is half of the 2010 price.

Drawbacks

To use the ProForm Sync feature you need an iPod nano, which is not something everybody necessarily has. You also need wireless internet connection. And you don’t have accurate hear rate readings, if you want to focus on cardio workouts.

But, all in all, the 995 model is a budget machine and for its features, it has a correct price. If you need more details you can check the official page.

Conclusions

The ProForm 790T is a widely featured treadmill. This is a model best suited for users focused on weight loss. Still, in spite of the qualities it brings, we only recommend it when on sale. Otherwise, the 790T is in serious competition with other brands like Sole, Livestrong or Nordictrack that offer more features for lower prices.

The first thing that got our attention was the silent motor. It doesn’t have the most powerful motor, but it’s more than enough for what it’s meant to do, that is help you lose weight. The cool thing about it is that it incorporates an internal fan that makes workouts smooth, silent and can run for a longer time.

Then, there was the adjustable cushioning. We don’t always feel comfortable on certain treadmills, although they integrate high-quality cushioning systems. The plus with the 790 T is that you have the option to tailor the cushioning to your own body posture and your current workout. With an easy slide forward or backward, our training became definitely more comfortable than on standard treadmills.

We like this treadmill because it allows us to choose out of a variety of weight loss workouts. Weight loss was our goal from the first place, and this machine gives us just the intensity we want. That is because you can choose out of several options, according to the amount of calories you want to burn. You get fitness and intense cardio, since you can raise incline up to 12%.

If you’re thinking of purchasing this treadmill, it must be because you are also focused on losing the extra pounds. The benefit you get is that you can weigh up to 325 lbs/ 148 kg. And if you do weigh this much, this treadmill would make a good purchase.

It has the workouts, it offers the comfort, safety and adjustability and it also keeps you motivated with the sound system it embeds. Even better if you’re an iPod fan.

And when you’re looking for a tougher challenge, go for the iFit card workouts. Note that this machine doesn’t offer an iFit Live Module (the latest version of the iFIT workouts).

The display makes training easy and comfortable. Its structure allows you to easily read feedback, which is important especially when workouts get really tough.

On the other hand, it doesn’t have a fan for users to cool off when the going gets tough, which is quite weird for a ProForm machine.

The warranty isn’t that enticing either. 2 years for parts and 1 year for labor is less than what you’d expect from a $ 1300 treadmill.
All in all, going for the 790T is a good decision only on Black Friday or other sales.

There’s also the ProForm 1050T that is slightly more evolved than the 790T. It usually sells for $1,600, but if you find it on sales, for a price lower than $1,300, it’s definitely worth considering the Proform 790T.
