Workouts

The 9.23 comes with a range of 6 preset workouts: Fun Run, Hill Climb, Interval, Manual, Walk and Weight Loss. No user profile is available on this model.

Fun Run offers intense workout for runners, especially beginners. The distance is fixed at 10 km/ 6.2 miles and it also has a preprogrammed incline. But you have control over both speed and incline that you can change using the arrow keys.

Hill Climb is the right workout for those looking to enhance endurance. It uses the maximum incline, but once again you can alter it as you want.

The Interval program is designed for cardio. It raises and lowers the level of effort for a given period of time. To change any setting, press the proper arrow key. When the program ends, none of the settings applied are saved.

Walk workouts are the same as Walk One workouts of Precor 9.27. Both have preset inclines that you can change throughout the workout.

Weight Loss gives intense workout to those looking to lose the extra weight. During this program, your heart rate should remain between 55% and 70% of your maximum heart rate (click here to understand how target heart rate control helps you lose weight). It’s important to identify which pace is comfortable for you and adjust speed and incline to meet your requirements.

Conclusions

The 9.23 is a treadmill that we highly recommend, but only to those who are really determined to workout consistently on a treadmill. This is a powerful machine that can satisfy the requirements of most avid runners. It is more focused on functionality and durability, and less on entertainment or diversity. If you’re the kind of user who would make the best out of this machine, here is a short depiction of its strong and weak points.

First off, as mentioned above, the 9.23 incorporates a very strong motor (same as all Precor models). It can go for hours at its highest intensity and incline, and you’ll still be getting sturdiness and comfort at the same time. The internal fan keeps the motor going for as long as you want. Precor takes care of this aspect that other brands don’t, respectively it prevents the motor from overheating. It’s a clear insurance of a motor built to last.

A machine this strong couldn’t have been designed without a shock absorption system. Even after our hardest workouts, we haven’t felt any stress or injury or pressure. The motor and the cushioning may be the best assets of this treadmill, even if this version does not have the patented Ground Effects Impact Control System installed, or the Integrated Fooltplant Technology (Same as Precor 9.31, 9.33 or 9.35)

We had no issues with maintenance because Precor offers a precious advantage, the self-lubrication deck. And to achieve a long life, the deck can be flipped to the unused side. We haven’t gotten to that part yet, but we believe it will keep our 9.23 up and going for a long time.

When we purchased this treadmill, we were looking for a gym-quality exercise machine, which normally means breaking the bank. 9.23 comes with a compromise of some fashion between the $1,800 price and the flawless functionality.

Its gym features are the magnetic safety key and also the deck suspension that will keep you injury free and provide low impact. And don’t worry about taking the incline to its highest. Not only it will give you intense and effective cardio workout, but it will also keep you safe all the way.

The drawbacks with this machine are that the console offers no programmable functionality, which is something other producers include in their treadmills, it has no cooling fan and it has no sound system. And the arms are short (required if you need the support for your exercises).

In our opinion, these facts aren’t good enough to make you rethink your decision. This isn’t a machine made for entertainment, but we would like a more diverse preset workouts selection. They offer all this for more expensive models, but we think it’s a key selling point and all models should have diverse workouts included in their consoles.

The warranty is a guarantee this is a model that won’t fail any time soon.

So, all there’s left to say is that if you need a durable treadmill and you can compromise on the workouts diversity, this will be a smart purchase. And you will need enough space to store it. You can also visit the official page if you need more details.
