This machine is decent. Many persons that buy it say that their money were well spent.
This treadmill is specially designed for those who want to combine training with watching TV. But the flat screen is both a strong and a week point of this model. It looks great but it breaks down too often and you may not want to replace it when you see the price (around 1100$).
The unit comes with a massive box which is extremely heavy and it may take a while until you assemble it. But we do not consider these as serious minuses.
The built in fans are nice but don’t imagine you will be able to run like with the wind blowing in your hair
. They are not powerful enough.
NordicTrack ViewPoint 3000 Treadmill is a big and serious machine that requires a lot of space (even when it’s folded). This is a durable treadmill and a perfect solution for a home runner.
unfortunately there aren’t any wheels so when the incline goes up and down it will damage the floor its on. pretty stupid design not a good machine to buy
Mine stopped working and getting a repair person to come fix it is proving to be tough. I would never buy this brand again.
@Susan – when did it stopped working?
Mine also stopped working. It stopped after only 3 months of light use. I just went to turn it on one time and discovered that the lights come on the console but nothing happens when you press the buttons and the motor does not come on/run at all. When I bought it, I had it assembled by the company, so I assume they put it together OK. I’ve tried all of the advice in the manual with no luck. It is also stuck in a slight incline so it is hard to get to all of the parts under the hood and I can’t fold it up so it would take up less room while collecting dust until I can afford to have it professionally evaluated/fixed. I loved it when it was working, though.
@Julie – If you have the warranty, you should use it. We are a little disappointed to see that so many people have problems with this Nordictrack model, even if it’s an old model.
It stopped working about 1.5 years after I bought it from Sears. Sears does not carry or service them anymore. It was a huge waste of money. I should have went with a Precor or some other brand. I can get it to work for a few mins by messing with the reed switch but as soon as I close the cover it stops. Really poor design.
Just wanted to add that I will never buy another Nordic Track product again. I emailed them to try and get a service person and they never returned my email.
What kind of battery or powercord does this use?
@Jessica – The model we reviewed uses a 120 volt circuit, and came with a grounding plug and a grounding conductor. You can attach a temporary adapter to connect the surge suppressor to a 2-pole receptable, if you do not have a grounded outlet, but on the long term you need one installed for a better protection against electric shock accidents.
@Susan – Thank you for the details. The ViewPoint 3000 was taken out of production from what we know. But this should not affect the product’s warranty. We can understand how frustrating this situation is. We’ve been there too, but with another brand. What we can recommend for the next treadmill, is to choose to buy it from the manufacturer directly. They usually offer better service than retailers. Precor is a good brand, they have unique features. Schwinn 860 is also a classic, but strong model. Sole have good treadmills/offers too. It all depends on what type of workout you are interested in. If we can help, don’t hesitate to write (annam@runreviews.com)
