If you look at the technical specs first LifeSpan TR 500 doesn’t look too good. The motor has only 1.75 CHP power and the belt is too short for our taste. But after you try it you realize this is a good machine even if it works only for a walker.
The TR 500 comes with enough built in workouts to make training various and fun. Unfortunately, since this is a budget machine, you don’t receive a sound system, an mp3 dock or at least a cooling fan.
Overall the Lifespan is not such a bad machine and can be a reliable solution for those interested in walking workouts only.

1. Speed: 10mph
The machine can reach a top speed of 10 mph set via 2 standard buttons or 4 preset controls designed to automatically change values at: 3, 4, 5 or 6 mph.
2. Inclination: 0-12%
The belt elevation can be taken up to 12 %. Same as speed incline is set via 4 preset controls or through a classic up/down system.
3. Motor
The Lifespan TR 500 features a 1.75 HP Continuous Duty motor.
4. Belt: 18’’ x 52’’
This model has a 2 ply belt, 18 inches wide and 52 inches long. The deck comes with eight compression shocks to absorb impact and reduce stress on your joints.
5. Warranty
For this model Lifespan offers a lifetime warranty for frame & motor and 1 year for parts and labor.
Handlebar Controls
LifeSpan did a great job in installing speed and incline controls on the handlebars. This way they are easy to access during hard training sessions and you have control over the machine without letting go to the handlebars.
14 Preset Programs
With this machine you get 14 built in workouts: 6 Incline Based programs, 5 Speed Based workouts, 2 Custom User and My Zone Heart Rate Control.
My Zone Heart Rate Control
My Zone Heart Rate program is designed to monitor your heart rate. It ensures that speed and incline are automatically adjusted to keep your pulse in the targeted zone.
The LifeSpan TR 500 Treadmill has maximum user capacity of 275 lbs.
The following are also included: a heavy-gauge steel-welded frame, EZ Drop folding system, oversized blue backlit display and an EKG Pulse Grip system.
The LifeSpan TR 500 treadmill is a budget machine and you can see this just by looking at the technical specs. The machine comes with a 1.75 CHP motor that doesn’t have the necessary power to sustain running sessions. However this motor is enough if you plan to do walking workouts only.

The belt size is small to medium. The walking space is only 52 inches long, a value pretty low for a runner but enough for a walker. The belt dimension and motor’s power are the features that confirm TR 500 is designed only for walking.
What we like at this machine is the variety of training features. Lifespan has a different approach than other companies we’ve reviewed so far.
Others companies install workouts focused on weight loss, fitness or performance. LifeSpan added incline and speed workouts. We think this might be just a marketing move since these programs do pretty much the same but, hey!… they have a new and fancy name!
The console has a nice design (the blue display is cool) but there are no entertainment features or built in fans. The warranty is not good but it’s the same budget machines have in general.
As a conclusion for this review: the machine is definitely made for walkers and for those who have less than 1k to spend. Overall this treadmill is not a bad deal. If you are planning to walk or do light jogging consider this model. If you have higher expectations … then move on.
