Display Info
The blue-backlit LCD and two additional LCD windows keep an eye on your performance: time, distance, speed, incline, calories, heart rate and also display program profiles, targets and workouts.

Alongside the basic buttons, the T203 also has Select target, Goal Center, Incline and Speed quick keys, a fan key and a Change display option.

Heart rate readings
You can measure your heart rate by using the hand grip contacts. This treadmill does not come with a wireless chest strap.

Workouts
There are 14 program options with on-the-fly changes with 3 targets, time, distance, calories and 4 workouts, Manual, Intervals, Hills and Weight loss. In addition, there are 2 available custom programs.

Press Go/Start to begin workout or select a Guest, User 1 or User 2 using arrow keys and press Enter. Select a target and press Enter. Select a workout and press Enter. Press Start and you’re done.

You can change your target in the middle of the workout and you can change your workout during your workout as well.

Goal Center
You can use this feature to view your progress toward your goal by pressing the Goal Center key.

Conclusions

If you’re a runner, you shouldn’t even be on this page. The Horizon T 203 has its strengths, but it isn’t strong enough to sustain your avid running. Honestly, we don’t recommend the T203. In a market as competitive as this one, this treadmill is kind of obsolete, especially since tough competitors such as Proform or Nordictrack or Yowza design their own entry-level units, but with better warranties and better quality.

Pros

Still, the Horizon T203 has its fair share of perks. The motor is quite powerful, that I will admit. But you may not want to push it to extremes. It may not sustain the 350 lbs you’re allowed. Which means that we would rate this treadmill at rather 280 lbs, which is not great. Also, it is not best fit for runners. It should be at least 3.0 CHP for a runner to meet his needs, and the T 203 is obviously not. Still, good enough for walkers and joggers.

Then, there is the running surface. It’s quite generous for this price, and it’s definitely spacious for most walkers and joggers.

The cushioning is flawless though. It works like a charm and you can adjust it according to your current workout, which is just great especially during high intensity and elevation. This feature definitely pulls the T 203 up the treadmill hierarchy.

The console is nothing but simple, it only bears the basic stuff. But then again, so does Yowza. I personally go for treadmills that don’t take your money for useless frills, but for decent functionality and the T 203 does just that.

Main Attraction

But let’s cut down to the buzz. First off, the Goal Center is always a good feature to have in hand. It’s great and highly efficient to monitor your results in comparison with the goals that you set. It’s a right way to performance improvement.

The Nike+ iPod feature is also an interesting advantage. Sure, it encourages users to spare the extra cash on iPods, but also it keeps track of your workout easily and efficiently. You plug in your iPod right into the console and save workout data such as distance, time and calories you’ve burnt. Then, iTunes connects you to the Nike website, and there you go, both fun and effective workout tracking and high-end marketing.

Drawbacks

But hey, the T 203 is still not very convincing. The warranty is not good. The T 101 and T 202 feature an extra year for parts coverage, but if you purchase the extra year warranty directly from Horizon, you only pay $80, rather than the extra $200. Right?

The quality of the components is quite uncertain. The component parts are cheap, which means poor quality. Other treadmills in the same price range are definitely ahead of the T 203.

All in all, if you only have $1,000 to spare, go check other models, better quality and better warranty. Nordictrack, Proform and Yowza may give you just that. If you need other details you can visit the official page located here.

Our main conclusion about the T202 is that this treadmill was built for walkers, but for runners not so much. The motor works great for walkers, but can’t sustain a serious runner’s demands. After all, this is a treadmill that you can have for $800. But even so, we recommend it for its wide features.

Pros

Despite its reduced power, the motor works nicely for walkers or light joggers. So if you resonate, then this treadmill may be easily suitable for you.
The surface is long enough for individuals up to an average stature, but not beyond. Taller users or users with extra long strides may feel uncomfortable or even crowded, which I am sure is not what you’re looking for.

So, if you’re not too tall and if you’re an avid walker or occasional jogger, here is what this treadmill has in store for you. First off, a nicely-looking user-friendly display that makes feedback reading really easy. Convenient readouts have always been a trigger for us.

The range of workouts is quite challenging, especially the target workouts. The higher your target, the more efficient your workout. And luckily, you can go as high as you want. Rest assured, the cushioning system will keep you safe and sound throughout the most intense of your workouts, which is a major plus for any treadmill.

For iPod and iPhone advocates, the T202 has a nice feature that can really boost motivation and performance. You can track your progress online by downloading your workout info on NikePlus.com. You can engage in a 31 day training period for an extra challenge.

The Advanced Goal Center allows you to choose out of 3 targets: time, distance or calories. This feature has been a plus towards our fitness heights.
It folds for storage, it keeps you safe, it cools you off when the tough gets going and it entertains. A good deal, I may say.

Drawbacks

But there is always a but. The main weakness of this treadmill is its poor quality. Don’t pound on it and definitely don’t increase speed as much as possible. You may end up with a dysfunctional motor.

To wrap up, the T202 is a good treadmill, but not a very good one. If you’re only planning to work out now and then for an energy boost, the T202 may be a good choice. Conclusions

There is no way we will ever recommend this treadmill. Not only it is identical to T101, but it also has serious flaws. And all this for $ 2000, unlike the $600 T 101.

Pros
But let’s be fair, every machine has its advantages. So does this one. The motor is powerful, no doubt about that. It’s a sturdy machine and you’ll be able to perform at high levels. And it’s unexpectedly quiet, which I’m sure all users appreciate.

Cushioning system works great, we feel no stress, no pressure, all our workouts are tension-free.

Setting up this machine wasn’t difficult, but we can’t say it was piece of cake. Our treadmill experience came in handy. There is some unnecessary information that may puzzle you, but you’ll get a hang of it quickly.

Programming options are satisfactory, although a bit simplistic. We are most interested in Intervals and Goal Distance workouts. They really make us sweat, which is exactly what we were looking for regarding our cardio and endurance training.

You fold it, you cool off with the fan and it’s quite user-friendly.

Main attraction
I believe many users are curious about the 3 target workouts and the programming options, which indeed are many and very useful.

Drawbacks

But all this pales when facing the ugly truth: there are more disadvantages than pros.
First use was somehow complicated. We adjusted the treadbelt a few times and we had to get used to the display. And not to forget, incline got stuck at 9. So, one big thumb down.

When using cool down mode, wireless heart rate readings stopped working and lost all our workout review.

At high speeds, the fan weakens, which I don’t understand, isn’t the fan made most and foremost for high speeds?!And on top of it all, a low warranty is supposed to convince you of the high quality of this treadmill.

And all this for $ 1400 more than its twin, T101.I see no reasons why you may want to purchase this treadmill. We strongly advice you not to. For more details you can check the producer website

The Horizon CT9.1offers necessary features for consistent runners. It combines program diversity and quality cushion system. But the reality is that Livestrong 13.0T is almost half the price and is similar, yet has more pros than the CT9.1.

Conclusions

With no ups and downs, the CT9.1 is a treadmill that we do not, I repeat we do not recommend. It has its advantages, but the Livestrong 13.0T is almost half the price and has more pros than the CT9.1.

Pros

The motor is powerful and helps you keep a fast pace. But the LS 13.0T has a more powerful motor and allows users to outdo themselves.

The belt is reasonable. We felt comfortable during our workouts. But a heavier user can’t take advantage of this unit, unlike the LS 13.0T that has a longer belt, therefore more comfortable.

The display is user-friendly and makes it easy for us to check our feedback, especially since there is a Change Display button that allows you to check the desired information.

There are Speed and Incline quick keys, so it’s easy to alter speed and incline during tough workouts, which is always an advantage. The array of workouts combines many types of challenges, depending on what your needs are.

We must admit, working out on the CT9.1 is quite intense and we feel we’re making progress. And the cushioning system does its thing, so our bodies feel like new at the end. Still, Livestrong LS 13.0T has 2 more workouts, which can make the difference.

Main attraction

The eTrack feature is quite helpful. It’s effective to monitor your progress over time. It makes you more aware of your performance and motivates you.

Drawbacks

But on the other hand, the LS 13.0T has a log of its own. It’s called Livetrack Interactive System, and not only it tracks your overall performance, but also allows you to download it on the Livestrong website.

Another problem is that it’s extremely heavy, so you better do a month of training before taking this unit out of the car and into your house.

Livestrong 13.0T is $ 1100 cheaper and has a more powerful motor, a larger belt, more workouts and more user-friendly features.

All in all, we don’t recommend this treadmill, especially since it’s guaranteed for only 1 year on parts and labor. Livestrong 13.0T is much better, much cheaper and more aesthetic, which does count. For other details check the Horizon website

What you need to know about Horizon CT12.1 before you continue reading this review. This treadmill is the Horizon version of Livestrong LS12.9T, available for sale only at Canadian tire.

We loved the Livestrong LS12.9T experience and CT12.1 met our expectations as well. This is a treadmill designed for avid runners. Joggers and walkers can also benefit from this machine, especially taller and heavier users.

It receives 5 stars for quality and features, but they don’t offset the high price.

The console offers a programming button that you can use to select program, level and time and also other options. Incline and speed can be changed by pressing the Up and Down keys or you can use Quick keys to make changes quicker.

Heart Rate Readings

Use the heart rate grips or wireless chest strap to make sure you’re in your heart rate target zone.

Workouts

The CT12.1 offers 14 program options, of which Manual, Speed Intervals, Peak Intervals, Weight Loss, Rolling Hills, Foot Hills, Mountain Climb, 5K/ 10K, Pacer, THR Zone, HR Intervals and Custom 1 and 2.

Speed Intervals and Peak Intervals increase strength and endurance by alternating speeds throughout the program. They involve the heart and other muscles.

Weight Loss workout increases speed and incline and keeps you in your fat burning zone.

Rolling Hills exercise is a challenge. It reproduces running up and down hills to increase stamina and muscle tone. In addition, it helps losing weight.

Similarly, Mountain Climb simulates mountain climbing and descending. It offers intense cardio.

Custom 1 and 2 allows you to save your workouts and personal info. You can enter weight, time, speed and incline. When using a saved program, you can change incline and speed, but you won’t be allowed to save the changes.

THR Zone adjusts incline automatically to keep users in their heart rate zone. It is a time-based workout. HR Intervals sets your target heart rate. It offers intense workout with alternating recovery bursts. It is a goal-based workout.

eTRAK Fitness Journal System

This feature allows you to track progress over time. Choose a user and reset information by holding down Workout Stats/ Hold to reset for 10 seconds. Recorded data regard personal best, last 5 workouts and workout totals.

Conclusions

The CT12.1 is a sleek treadmill, there’s no doubt about it. But we don’t recommend it for the present price of $2,600. Unless you get your hands on major sales, go for other models such as Livestrong LS12.9T and Livestrong LS16.9T. For $1,200 or $1,700, you get more features and you won’t break the bank to purchase it.

Pros

This treadmill has the power and sturdiness. The motor is built to get you through high intensity and maximum incline. No worries for taller users, since the running surface is above average. Not only is this deck comfortable for taller users, but also for heavier ones, up to 350 lbs/ 159 kg. Up to now, all good.

The display is designed for easy usage. It’s easy for us to alter incline and speed and follow our performance during and after workout.

For user’s benefit, CT12.1 comes with dual heart rate reading system. You can use the handgrips or the wireless chest strap. The advantage is that the chest strap comes with the machine. It would have been absurd not to, given the $2,600 price.

It’s a good thing the chest strap is included, because this model incorporates serious cardio workouts. THR Zone and HR Intervals gave us serious cardiovascular training, while maintaining us in our target heart rate zone. Having the fan to cool off whenever we felt like is an advantage. Intensity can get so high that cooling off is most necessary.

You get to insert your weight, so Weight Loss programs help you do the job right. And the warranty is satisfactory.

Main Attraction

The CT12.1 includes an eTRAK Fitness Journal that helps users keep track of their overall performance. This feature is advantageous because being permanently updated on your progress, helps you increase efficiency until you reach your goals.

Drawbacks

The price is the major drawback. It is too expensive, especially given the Livestrong treadmills . (produced by the same manufacturer). For other info visit the manufacturer website

If you are in search for a GS950T treadmill but you can’t find one in a near store, stop looking. Buy a Horizon T101 because it’s the same treadmill.

We tested T101 and had the chance to workout on a GS950T too. They are 99% equal. The 1% difference is just a change of color (GS950T – has green design for frame and Console leds, while T101 is blue). Oh, and the buttons are arranged differently.

We will start by mentioning what you buy for the extra $200 if you choose T103 instead of T102:

- 1 year additional warranty for parts

- Additional 0.25 CHP for motor

- Additional 25 lbs as user maximum accepted weight (normal for the power motor added)

- 2 custom and save workouts

- iPOD dock

For us, this is not enough. Not when you can buy the 1 year extended warranty for parts AND labor at only $79 from Horizon directly. Or you could use your iPOD headsets without needing to insert them in the console.

We would definitely pay $200 for a longer and thicker belt, a target heart rate system to use the weight loss workouts, and individual user profile to insert out personal info when counting calories burned or a powerful fan.

So no, we weren’t blown away by this treadmill.

But we did notice that this model is more reliable for those who weigh over 300lbs because of the firmer cushion system and more powerful motor. This is if you use it to do walking exercise or light jogging.

Other practical features we appreciate are the folding system and the Goals Center (for the distance and time goals set). You can always train 2 hours on the treadmill for example, but we recommend you buy an extra warranty as for this type of usage parts will not last very long. They aren’t the most qualitative components, although the frame seems stable even at high speeds. These features are also found on the T102 model.

It’s not recommended for tall people interested in running. The belt is not that long to support a full stride.

In conclusion we can recommend it only if you weigh over 300 lbs (but not more than 350) and you want a treadmill to keep up with your exercises.If you need additional details visit the official page.

Horizon T102 is a 2010 Model from Horizon priced at $800 on their e-store.

But in fact this model is a copy of the Horizon CT7.1 treadmill, promoted under a new name in 2010. T102 has many common features (especially the same parts quality and warranty) with Horizon T101.

But it also includes additional features like a more powerful motor, better speed and incline, more workouts and the Goal Center.

We have tested this treadmill for a few days intensively. How it went, see in our conclusions.

Led Display:

The display update added above its predecessor’s console (T101) is that this console has a 2 – 4 digit Led display. During workout you see the following info:

- Distance in miles
- Speed in mph
- Approximate number of Calories burned or remaining to be burned
- Incline
- Pulse/Heart Rate
- Workout Profiles
- Goal set

Heart Rate readings: through Contact Handles

It’s the same feature as on Horizon T101 or T103, with the same limitations. Find out more details in the Horizon T101 Review.

Workouts:

Horizon T102 includes the workouts you can find on Horizon T101 (manual, intervals and weight loss), plus the goals workouts and hills workout. Read more about the common workouts here.

What Horizon T102 has to offer more than T101 is:

- Hills Workout – this workout simulates hill running up and down by controlling automatic incline and speed for every 30 seconds interval.

- Goals Center – this feature allows keeping track of results in comparison with the goals set. It’s like an online journal that allows you to track your improvements throughout your training period. Goals can be time based, distance based or calories based.

There are 2 User Profile available for which you can use the Goal Center feature. To see the journal you just select the same user profile chosen at the beginning of the training series.

Sound System:

Same as T101, T102 has only MP3 and CD player input. You have no audio device controls on the console.

Fan: included with on/off controls

Folding treadmill:

Yes, you can fold this treadmill. It comes with a hydraulic lift assist which makes the folding/unfolding process easier. You can do this on your own if you can lift minimum 7 pounds.

But to move it around you still need 2 persons.

Conclusions

Surprisingly this treadmill can take a 2 hours workout. This is confirmed from a marathoner distance runner point of view.

Another pleasant surprise was to see that the treadmill can take 2 persons who work out daily without losing its stability.

For $800 price this is a surprise.

But we also noticed that a person who weighs over 250lbs will feel high instability when using this treadmill. If you weigh over 250 lbs (within 325 lbs) you can do only light walking and it’s a must you adjust the belt to the firmest cushion level when you train.

Another minus is the components quality. They are not the best parts and it’s normal for the price paid. So for the warranty included it’s safer and recommended to choose any of the extended warranty options Horizon offers.

The treadmill includes more workouts variety than T101 for example, but some are still useless. We appreciate the Goal Center system which allows you to set goals and review your training journal for a certain period of time. This feature really helps control your body performances. If you don’t have a blog or a diary, Goals Center can replace them successfully.

But the Weight Loss workout is useless. So is the heart rate reader. They don’t have any practical use. We explained why in our description above.

The fan is another unpractical feature. It doesn’t help that much. So we recommend that instead of using this control just open a window.

As we mentioned at the beginning this model is just the same treadmill as Horizon CT7.1 which now is marketed only in Canada, through a retailer.

It also has similar features to Horizon T103 treadmill, a review we highly recommend to read before making a decision. T103 costs more so if you’re just looking for a cheaper model with the same features see Horizon T101 Treadmill review.

The warranty questions if you should make this investment for a long term, not unless you buy extra warranty, which comparing to other offers on the market may not worth the money.

Horizon T101 is a 2010 Model, offered at $600 on Horizon e-store.

What you must know is that this is the same treadmill as a previous model, Horizon GS950T. The only difference between these 2 models is the frame color: one is blue and one is green.

There are 2 other treadmills with which T101 shares many commons features (especially in the parts quality): T102 and T103. The last mentioned have a higher price (up to $1,000).

- Target Set options (blinks if any target is set)

Heart Rate readings: through Contact Handles

This is a basic feature, with the same limitations as on most Horizon treadmills: you can’t use the heart rate feedback in the actual workout as you can’t specify your own age or your target heart rate zone. Only with this info you could complete an efficient weight loss workout.

Workouts:

- Manual Workout – this is a time based workout and allows you to control Incline and Speed;

Pre-set workouts:

- Intervals Workout – this is a time based workout with preset incline/speed for 3 workout segments (warm-up, 90 seconds, 30 seconds). The 3 segments repeat until your target is reached;

- Weight Loss Workout – this workout controls automatically speed and incline for consecutive 30 seconds intervals until your set target is reached. Unfortunately, it’s not a complete workout as you can’t insert you target fat burning zone in a user profile. This would allow counting calories burned with more accuracy.

You have 4 options to set targets for each of the above workouts (both manual and pre-set):

Target 1: Time (from 15 minutes to 99 minutes)

Target 2: Distance: (from 0.25 miles to 26.25 miles)

Target 3: Calories (from 20 to 980 calories)

No target

These workouts and options are included also in Horizon T102 and Horizon T103 consoles.

But, only on T101 you have the Cool Down button, in handy when completing a workout (it allows your heart beat to cool down for 4 minutes at slow pace).

None of the workouts have an individual user profile enabled which makes it difficult to offer precise feedback, especially when you set calories targets.

Sound System:

The console allows you to insert your MP3 and CD player. Speakers are included in the console but you have no other controls (like volume).

Fan: included with on/off controls

Folding treadmill:

You have this feature included and it’s the same basic process as on Horizon T102, T103 and on all the other Horizon treadmills which include this system.

Conclusions

All we could do on this treadmill without provoking any damage to the machine or to ourselves was to walk and jog.

Initially we were very disappointed about the machine’s parts quality and efficiency. This was until we found out the price, $600. At that moment we stopped demanding performance and we focused on the machine’s behavior for light training sessions.

For this type of exercises the machine performs decent (almost very good). The highest advantages are the silent motor, reliable and adjustable cushion system, good speakers and the folding control.

Its most important disadvantage is the poor warranty for parts and labor (important to mention because their quality is questionable).

Other details we want to mention is that the most useful workouts are the intervals workout and the manual workout based on Distance and Time targets. The others are useless as you don’t have real feedback about the calories burned. We explained why in our review above.

The belt size is right for the type of exercises you can do. Without being able to run intensively, you don’t need a larger belt to complete full strides.

We can recommend this treadmill for the limited performance you can experience when using it, but only if you choose an extended warranty (even the additional 1 year warranty applies).
